Nine years back, when I came to Dhaka for permanent residency, it was not this much over-populated. You may wonder if you carefully read last line! Because Dhaka itself was over-populated since 80’s.

However, today, Dhaka is much more populated. For example, I used to visit Dhaka since my childhood (late 90’s). Old Dhaka seemed very populated than other region of the city. I rented a flat with my friends at Uttara in 2009 and you know what? Uttara was really less-populated place and it has huge open space to breathe fresh air.

Time flies very fast. The open places where we used to play badminton and cricket are now holding multi-storey buildings. The roads we never seen any traffic jam ever are not holds horrible traffic jams in the busy hours.

There may have many reasons to being over-populated but Dhaka itself build as an unplanned way. It is not capable of holding this much people but to become 2nd worst livable country, people has a lot of faults along with the city administration.

Citizens don’t follow traffic rules, don’t use over-bridges, don’t use dustbin, uses plastic products a lot. They don’t even care about the city environment. People come to this city to earn more, live luxury but they never changed their mentality to build a beautiful city.

A storm is very much needed to shake their mentality. Or else nothing can change them!
