If this is how we treat our Gods, how do we manage the other mundane things in life.

Emotions of others blind our logic, Rhetoric drives our reason, Loudness scares us into submission — our Comprehension is the sum of all this. And it is Comprehension which drives our actions, no matter how weak the foundations; whatever we comprehend, is the line of correctness for us, set in stone.

We consume the most. We create little. We comprehend the least.

We need to reverse this with a very simple mantra — “Strong Opinions, Weakly Held”. This implies

  • Comprehension is not a permanent state but a daily exercise
  • Comprehension is not about being right, it is the path to being correct
  • Comprehension does not reflect “our” logic, it attempts to understand the “other” context
  • Comprehension involves not jumping to conclusions but wading towards understanding
  • Comprehension is not about knowing the answers, it is about finding the right questions

It is easy to begin our comprehension exercises — we can start by treating our Gods better
