About nine months ago I launched Dam Venture on the hilarious faux pas of Bain Capital Crypto, in classic VC form, introducing a team of all men on (you guessed it) international women’s day. Through consistent and (more often than not) inconsistent writing, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing 13 extended rants and exposes of some of the biggest problems I observe on a day-to-day basis in the venture capital industry.

Problem is though, I’m not every venture capitalist. And I don’t stand for the beliefs of every VC, or, have a fraction of the insight that the group of us do. Obviously, I needed to rectify that, so I’m doing what any responsible twenty-something would do: I’m launching a podcast.

Introducing Dam Venture: the podcast where we’re stopping the flow of BS in the venture capital industry.

I’m mostly finished recording and editing the first season, and over the next few months I’m excited to share it with you all. We’re recording hot takes from early career venture capitalists, the voices that you never hear from. Oftentimes early career VCs will leave the industry or end up doing something else. And the broader populace will never know why. More importantly, we see a lot more of the problems, and also risk a lot more by outing them. As such, these are often the most important voices to hear. Whether you’re a founder, general partner, aspiring VC, or even someone who just watches the tech industry from a distance, hopefully this podcast will provide value and insight into the problems we see every day, and how we plan to solve them in our generation.

This season we have all types of VCs spilling the hot tea on everything from crypto to race and gender relations in the VC industry, and even one episode where we dive deep into the intricacies of investing in the construction technology space, and how some tourists can do it better. I’m grateful to all of them for coming on, and for being willing to talk about many taboo topics for the industry. I firmly believe that the only way we’re going to improve the industry is with our age group of investors talking about and dealing with the many problems in it. Sometimes the only change possible is generational change.

I’m going to be releasing the first episode next week featuring George Easley from Outsiders Fund, a man who inexplicably came on my podcast, and questioned the legitimacy of the crypto industry about a month before the FTX collapse. Following this, I will release episodes following an alternating matching pattern with blog posts every 2 weeks (roughly, writing and creative inspiration pending as per usual). Each episode will be about 30–45 minutes and will be posted on Spotify as well as (fingers crossed that I can get the code working) damventure.com.

I’m looking forward to this, and I hope you all enjoy!

Andrew
