Panellists for the “Lessons from Overseas” webinar last month

By Nick Mathews

Experts from around the world connected via the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia University recently to examine possible solutions, alarming questions and troubling trends involving international issues related to local journalism and media policy.

The online discussion, entitled “Lessons from Oversees,” included panellists with expertise in media policy matters across Australia and Europe. The panel was the second of a five-part series, hosted by the Tow Center, examining how media policy can support local journalism.

Experts Kristy Hess (Deakin University, Australia), Sameer Padania (Founder and Advisor, Macroscope Lead Author Journalism Funders Forum) and Matthew Powers (University of Washington) were joined by Tow fellow Damian Radcliffe from the University of Oregon, who moderated the discussion.
