I was fortunate to have the opportunity to speak at the 22nd newsrewired conference hosted at Reuters last month, where I spoke about the research I have undertaken over the past couple of years on the state of local newspapers — and local media — in the US.

The talk recapped studies (an online survey and landscape report) co-written with Dr. Christopher Ali, for the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia University, as well as a study into local journalism in the Pacific Northwest supported by the Agora Journalism Center at the University of Oregon.

Below I’ll post my slides and the audio from the session. And here’s a few links to some of the other coverage around the talk and my involvement in this excellent event.

Write-ups and other links

Thank you to John Thompson for the photos (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) from the session; and to the journalism.co.uk team for the opportunity to participate.
