What do you do?
I’m technically the first employee of a start-up called You Are Oxygen, which means I’m doing everything from market research to branding briefs!

We are building an online platform that’s disrupting the social innovation sector by bringing together impact investors, individuals passionate about create a change in the world, good corporate citizens, and social enterprise start-ups.

“it’s a combination of Kickstarter, Just Giving, a business incubator, and a CSR programme rolled into one”

To put it simply (which I’m having to do more frequently as I meet more interested people), it’s a combination of Kickstarter, Just Giving, a business incubator, and a CSR programme rolled into one. It sounds more complicated than it is I promise!

How did you get the job?
Through an alumni network for jobs in the social sector called Worthwhile — I was on one of their graduate placements. I was freelance prior to this role, and was between projects so scanned the offerings in the Worthwhile Facebook group and saw this role! Very serendipitous…

Why do you give a damn about it?
You Are Oxygen is modernising how humans as a species co-create sustainable solutions to the world’s most challenging problems. The scale of the solution has to match the scale of the problem.
