How to Have an Amazing Spring Day in Port Credit

--

Port Credit is one of Mississauga’s gems. A lakefront community that sits right on the edge of Lake Ontario, it’s one of the best places to find good food, drink and shopping! It’s home to some of Mississauga’s best views and bike paths, and is the perfect place to spend a sunny weekend.

Morning & Breakfast

Start your morning off right with a delicious breakfast at Bobby’s Hideaway, open at 7:00 a.m. every day of the week. Their expansive menu has every type of omelette under the sun, classic sandwiches, golden waffles and pancakes and old favourites like Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine. Chicly decorated and moderately priced, it’s the perfect way to start the day.

Next, head west and you’ll spot the quaint shops that line Lakeshore West, and you’ll find lots of gems worth stopping in at. If your a music fan Ric’s Collections offers an amazing collection of vinyl records both new and old and The Guitar Shop is a must see for anyone who enjoys to strum.

Carry on west for a few more blocks until you reach Elmwood Ave. Head south and you’ll reach the beginning of the Waterfront Trail. Here you can bike or walk (about a 15 minute stroll) to the Port Credit lighthouse at the mouth of the Credit River.

Afternoon Snacks & Lunch

Here you can walk along the boardwalk and enjoy the vast view of Lake Ontario. If you’re ready for a bite, stop in at Snug Harbour and enjoy a meal on the water. If you’re just looking for a snack, or a more moderately priced bite, Smoke’s Poutinerie and Burrito Boyz are delicious local favourites.

If you’re feeling active, the Credit River is a beautiful spot to kayak and canoe. While Port Credit doesn’t house any rental facilities, local conservation areas do!

Launch from the harbour for an up-current paddle. You’ll have beautiful views all the way up that are surprisingly quiet and peaceful. The river, though popular, is big enough that it remains uncrowded.

If being on the water isn’t for you, walk alongside it in Port Credit Memorial Park. Here you’ll find grassy fields, a beautiful park and the Mississauga Music Walk of Fame. Browse the Port Credit Library adjacent.

Afterwards, stop in at Scoops for a refreshing ice cream treat. If you’re still in the mood for nature, Jack Darling Park and the Rattray Marsh are both beautiful options.

Evening and Dinner

If you’re ready for food and drink, Port Credit has amazing options. Door FiftyFive, Spice Lounge and Shore Grill and Grotto offer great drinks and tapas while the Pump House Grille Co, Breakwater Fine Dining and Fired Up have delicious meals.

Once you’re full, head to the Crooked Cue for some pool, Roc ‘n Docs for live music and drinks, or El Jefe for cocktails and dancing.

Whatever you choose, you’re sure to have a wonderful day in the Town of Port Credit!
