Technology is great until it is not. Are we too reliant?

What would you do if you woke up tomorrow and had zero access to your phone or WIFI? Would you feel relief or panic? Well, 71,000 people have experienced that throughout the United States today. T-Mobile and AT&T are scrambling to resolve the issues. Verizon said they only received complaints about calls not going through to other carriers but that their service seems to be uninterrupted. As a Verizon customer, I can confirm that I have not had any problems. The State Department has issued a statement warning that it is possible we could see a widespread power grid outage, which could be far more damaging than only losing phone usage.

Our government has been preparing for what could happen in the case of a cyber attack on our power grid for years. We should prepare too.

What does a power grid outage mean?

If the entire power grid were to go down, we would have no cell service, internet, power, sewer, or water. Groceries and gas stations would be closed. We would be completely locked down. Do not panic, but it is an excellent idea to be prepared.
