Are You There?
You never answer
For you-know-who
I can almost see you,
Hear your whispers in the
Quiet interludes of life,
Like echoes behind and
Beyond reality,
Forcing me to question
Whether what I witness
Is truth or just a wish.
I know you’re gone and out
Of reach, so why do I
Sense your presence now?
Has the loss of your love
Cost me my sanity,
Severed any chance to
Reset my emotions
And exist without you?
Am I beyond help or
Hope, is happiness now
Naught but a bitter chase
Along a razor’s edge?
Relentless, the lure of
A leap ‘guised as a slip,
To trade lingering pain
For the chance to join you.
