…which is great, and even if I’m not feeling any of these I still love myself

I am being purposefully black and white here. The idea is that regardless of whether we are shining bright or stuck under a rain cloud, whether someone is full of praise or criticism for us, we still deserve to be loved for simply being us. That love comes first and foremost from within ourselves.

Of course, there are aspects of ourselves that can be celebrated, and facets of ourselves that can be worked on. This is not a ticket to escape from introspection and growth. In fact, having this attitude of compassion can enable us to confront the parts of ourselves that are the hardest to face. Only then can we address what we need to.

We are worthy of love, belonging and connection just as we are. We can feel it in our bones.
