Right to two parties in two days
At the beginning of the week, I was in some doubt that I would be ready to go to two parties in two days at the end of the week, but as the days went by, I felt better. By Friday, we went out to dinner for the first time in three weeks, so I was sure I could handle a couple of parties.
They were both parties for grandchildren, and when I say that, many people think “children’s parties,” but I’m older than a lot of people, plus I gained two teen-aged granddaughters when my son married their mother, so I got a head start. The oldest grandchild is 30, the youngest 12. In between, there’s a 27-year-old and a 25-year old.
The best part of both parties was how proud I can be of these grandchildren. The Saturday party was a bon voyage celebration for the 27-year-old, who is joining her military husband with whom she will live in England for the next three years. What a wonderful opportunity! They have plans to visit other countries while they are there, and this summer, her mother, my son, the 12-year-old and her grandfather will be going on a long awaited trip to Portugal, where her grandparents were born.
My oldest granddaughter helped cater the party, and she is glowingly pregnant with her second child. She won’t be doing any traveling this year, but she is happily…
