The loud crash pulled Lindsay Paulson inside her boss’s office. The fear in her heart prevented her from knocking.
Kate Davies was sitting around her desk in tears.
“Are you alright?” Lindsay inquired, slowly easing towards her desk, scanning the room. An iPhone lay on the floor to her right, and broken pieces of glass lay beside it.
Kate stared up at her, blinked several times, then wiped her eyes with the back of her hand and shared, “I lost everything and everyone. I am so sorry, I won’t be able to pay you.”
