The answer was pretty straightforward in 2002, when I started my first blog. I had no clue about what to do or what to use it for, but starting was simple. I just created an account on Blogger and wrote.
Later I found the coolest theme that changed color all the time.
(Yeah, kitsch, I know…)
I wrote sporadically on Blogger. Later, I got WordPress and set up blogs on domains. I wasted time and money setting up blogs that bored me after an hour.
If I were to start a new blog today, I would follow the routine I came up with.
It will make you money in the fastest possible way without wasting it and without wasting your time. Here’s a checklist you can follow, starting today.
- Pick a topic
- Come up with blog post ideas for the topic
- Research keywords or analyze the need
- Write 15 blog posts
- Evaluate: Do you want to keep writing?
- If you do, find domain name
- Buy the domain and get a web host
- Install WordPress
- Install or create a theme
- Start publishing and drip out the posts you’ve written
