Is faster really better?

I prefer to brake when the traffic light turns yellow to avoid the anxiety of making a split-second decision right before it turns red. I also am a stickler for the speed limit. Sometimes I’ve watched drivers behind me getting annoyed and overtaking me in a huff only to step on the brakes at the light ahead.

It made me wonder whether that fleeting sense of accomplishment they must have felt in that moment was worth it.

I feel people today are frantically searching for a shortcut from point A to B, be it on the road, in writing, making money, cellular technology, or cooking à la Instant Ramen noodles.

Enter the life hack experts who claim to have the secrets to thinking, doing, or losing weight faster.

If results are not instantaneous, it is a disappointment or worse. People get depressed, think they are failures and are quick to throw in the towel. So are these quick fixes really effective or was the person peddling it so convincing that one could not help but believe?
