I Shall Cherish Your Loving Heart Always

I’d never experienced a deep unconditional loving relationship in my life. That changed when I rescued my Siberian Husky, Chan Teh. I was 61, divorced, alone, and yearned for a companion. My human tribe had failed me up to that point. I couldn’t count on my husband. Friends were temporary and short-lived. My children were grown and living their own lives.

I moved to Chelan in 2001. It resonated with my true spirit. The quaint town sat at the end of a 55-foot-long lake, surrounded by lofty mountains. It was paradise, but I longed to share my life with a warm-blooded being.

I thought, “I’ve always loved huskies for their wolf-like behavior.”

I contacted the Adopt-a-Husky organization and got the ball rolling. I found a black and white two-year-old female on their website. Perfect. I didn’t want to deal with a puppy. Now I’ll let Chan Teh tell her side of our story.

I’m in a big van filled with dog crates. I’m trembling in one of them. I don’t know the other huskies. I’m trying to adjust to my new life. My former owner dropped me at a shelter. He tied me to a fence outside the building. I’m scared, don’t know why I’m here. What did I do…
