If you ask me, ‘where were you’?
You will mean, where my mind was,
I will answer, ‘why? here’ —
But will have travelled to the stars,
Hovered around meteors and clung to the
milky ways, when they showered on the globe,
Slipping down on hue-abstracted drenched earth,
When you will be finished cleaning dirt from your glasses….

Can you see without them?!

I never realised creativity was my way of life until 2020, when Covid struck and by some turn of event I decided to share a piece of me with the world.
This does not make me proud or happy, but what you have to understand here is, like every child, I was tuned to face the world with its realities and creativity or taking it up professionally never featured.

I never thought I was good enough to fetch my earning through any creative endeavour.

My delving in Art opened that rare window which has to some extent established me as a mini artist professionally.
In the process of staying creative quite seriously for the last two years, I have realised “Creativity” is about spreading yourself out for people to see, savour and in auspicious moments get inspired.
It is also about being bold with your thoughts and expressions and believing in putting out to the world a sliver of you in its unadulterated form. This goes on to create YOU, un-replicated and unique.

Moving in this direction, I decide to share a few of the ‘misdeeds of my quivering fingers’ and how I converted them into some piece of Art.

The title comes at the backdrop of some health realities I have encountered very early in life, which has moulded my ways of seeing life in a way different than normally abled people.
I also need to stress here, that my idea of sharing my ways with life stemmed from observations and realisation that I am able to steer my life better, in spite of my disabilities than many around me because I developed an attitude to visualize life creatively, philosophically and take the mishaps in my stride with a smile.

I have a chronic autoimmune condition that impacted my spine. This is a highly debilitating and life altering condition which affects my mobility and movements, among many other things.

I have lost my ability to draw a straight line or a perfect round.
Or for that matter, a steady hand and firm fingers, when I wish to click the shutter now and then.

But I have not lost my ability to transform those imperfect pieces into some form of Art. You are always surprised by the cerebral abitilities we humans are endowed with.

When Lorena Sharing Randomly’s article shot into my mail inbox with a her observation on my favourite artist Van Gogh, I knew what to share this time around.

So, I decided to use three of my ‘mis-clicks’(as I would want to call them) and how I transformed them into Abstract Street Photography:

Light n Speed:

Splash of hues
on canvas of life
Move with speed n light
Carry the dark
Of reality stark
Where the mind alights…..

I did not even realise when my hand fell on the shutter. While trying to clear my phone’s photo album, I discovered this spat of colour, which may have come into being because of the speeding vehicle I was in. I added a little sharpness and darkness and brilliance and created the above abstract photograph.

Reflection:

Photo/edit by Monoreena

Water holds life
beneath its surface of calm
Deep in its solemn perfection —
Wind and sludge never mix,
yet make music of the rotten
And blow over evenings of
faded reflection…
.

This comes with an interesting story! The rains have not stopped this year around and the untimely ones have created tiny puddles in and around the sidewalks which are not finding time to dry up. A few evenings back,as I was trying to negotiate one such puddle my phone almost fell from the hand (I have gripping issues) and in my efforts to save my phone my hands fell on the phone camera and this got clicked.
It was very vague when I found it in my photo library, so I added some sharpness and definition, adjusted the dark-bright ratio and the click cleared out into this beautiful story of Reflection. One of my favourite piece of photo-art!

Cloud Story:

Photo/edit by Monoreena

Clouds of ink
Smudge and spread,
Painted forms align,
Brush of rain
A colour train
Water drops in blotted sky…

My vehicle waited in a traffic overload and it was raining profusely . Rain being my favourite subject, I couldn’t help but decide to go for a click. And as usual my hand shook and the photo became off-focus.
I checked to see and actually liked what I found: the sky looked like a ink blotted paper of abstract lines.

Let me know if you see anything else in all the three Abstract Street Photographs I presented here!

Thank you Sharing Randomly for the prompt 3 of this 52-weeks extravaganza, where she mentioned:

Who are your favorite artists? Do you relate in any matter with your chosen person? Has their legacy changed how you perceive things in your own life? Do you think that an artist can change people’s lives positively? Why?

And as we all know, art can come in different shapes or forms. From literature, film, street photography, etc.; art is endless and limitless, so you can draw inspiration from various perspectives and means…

Because Van Gogh is my favourite and I am greatly influenced by his life and process of creation and abstracts have formed a basis of all my creative dwellings, I wanted to share how these factors have shaped the way I view Creativity. I chose street photography as my subject with a special reference to my debilitation, for people who think art is for the Perfect.

I have learned, Art is for the imaginative , as far as our imaginations can be stretched!

Thank you Dr. Gabriella Korosi Dr. Preeti Singh Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles Sharing Randomly and Dancing Elephant Press for these interesting prompts and publishing my work.

Thank you everyone who decides to drop by and encourage.
