Life is a kaleidoscope of colours, painting every moment with a unique hue of emotions. From anger to happiness, fear to delight, sorrow to joy, and everything in between, we traverse a spectrum of feelings each day.

Some emotions linger, etching themselves into our being, while others are fleeting, passing through like wisps of clouds.

These emotions are the very essence of life, each carrying its own significance in our journey. They shape our experiences and mould our perspectives, ultimately defining who we are.

No matter how subtle or overwhelming, each emotion contributes to the intricate mosaic of existence.

In this grand tapestry, we can wield the brush and choose the palette that adorns our life’s canvas. Some among us opt for a life tinted with shades of grey, marked by monotony and detachment.

For me, the colour that resonates most profoundly is Blue. Amidst life’s shifting shades, I have found solace and affinity in the blues. It’s a colour that has always held a place of favour in my heart.

For me, blue has always been a lucky colour. And I love all shades of blue.

Blue is a harbinger of good fortune, an emblem of calmness and tranquillity. The myriad shades of blue encapsulate a spectrum of emotions, from the serene azure to the deep sapphire, each invoking a distinct sentiment.

During my college years, a blue garment was my unwavering choice for exam days — a personal tradition that endures. Even today whenever I have an important work or meeting to attend, I prefer wearing a blue colour dress or saree.

It’s not so much that the colour defines my personality, but it gives a sense of peaceful assurance, a balm for the mind and nerves.

The perceptions others hold of me are inevitably coloured by their own beliefs and experiences. However, I stand unwavering in my self-acceptance, impervious to external judgments.

I can sit beside a water body just staring at its sereness and tranquillity and find peace in the surrounding. My favorite places for a relaxed holiday are close to the blue sea or on a beach.

Guided by the ethos of “live and let live,” I’ve embraced this philosophy as the backdrop of my life. Interestingly, this aligns with the insights of colour psychology about those who are drawn to blue — their calm and composed attitude mirrors the colour’s attributes.

The Colour Of Peace

Maintaining composure, particularly in the demanding realm of corporate life, has been an endeavour marked by challenges. Yet, through a confluence of personal and professional experiences, I’ve cultivated a poise that enables me to confront adversities equitably.

Unexpected challenges emerge, and I’ve faced them head-on with a tranquil mind.

“Blue is the color of peace. Water is blue. I like the color blue because it just puts me at peace. The patriotic symbol is blue. I just like blue.”- Antonio Brown.

Much like the patriotic symbolism of the colour, I find tranquillity and peace in embracing blue hues — affirming its lasting impact on my journey.

With each stroke of emotion’s brush, we paint the canvas of our being, weaving a narrative rich in experience and meaning.

Many thanks to editors of DEP Dr. Gabriella Korosi, Annelise Lords, Dr. Preeti Singh, Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles for wonderful prompts that inspire me to write.

Loved Sanghita Pal's article on Tears of Joy. She feels blessed to be in the lap of nature. I can relate to this feeling as I too enjoy being in nature.
