Spinning Until Churning
When silence begins to whirl
Life has been a Spin, then another and many more.
Being a Kathak dancer, spinning is an integral part of our repertoire.
A twirl.
A whirl.
A pirouette.
A chakkar.
I have spent years and hours, finding the centre of my body. Have had broken skin and blisters till the balance is achieved. Shed sweat and blood till the dancer becomes the circling flow.
Some spins of life … teach you that there is more to learn, practice, and understand in this art of a flowing-whirling- dancing life.
Life these past few months has been all about moving from one dot to another, touching the many directions while finding the feet to anchor the self.
There has been a Spin, then another and many more.
A spin of love, melting into the union
A spin of questions, challenging the self
A spin in time, travelling back and forth
A spin of ideas, moving in dark and light
A spin in possibility, moving towards a change
A spin in emotions, drawing out the many inside
A spin of connections, holding on to let go
A spin in space, moving till pulled by gravity
These times were not about being busy, tied up, occupied; but also about silence, disconnecting and rethinking. They were not about sadness, struggles, obstacles; but also about joy, success and creating. They were not just about being alone, fragmented, depressed; but also togetherness, sharing and positivity. They also weren’t about excuses, reasons and arguments; but also about contemplation, pause and conversation. They were not just about rhythm, movement, expression; but also about creativity, awareness and letting go.
These few months of silence from writing have been about a Spin, then another and many more.
I am the one in possession of the spin
I turn creating the freedom in the lines
I twirl allowing the energy to exchange
I rotate finding my own axis
I swirl accepting the emotions to change
I twist bringing an order to the sounds
I spin collecting my thoughts
I revolve teasing the rhythm
I whirl having no beginning or end
Spinning
without moving
Spinning
seeking gravity
Spinning
in the circle of life
Spinning
until held in love
Spinning
till I am rooted
Spinning
Until the whirling becomes a churning within.
