Spirituality- The Essence of the Fragrance of the Soul.
In response to Dancing Elephants Press prompt 13/52
A Miraculous beginning of life:
Do you know what has been the most miraculous thing you experienced till today?
Well, look in the mirror, and you will get your answer. Yes, your existence itself is a wonder.
We came into this earth through a miraculous journey of around nine months in our mother’s womb. The speed, complexity, and exquisite detail with which human development unfolds in the fascinating world of the womb will surprise you. What a meticulously planned scientific design by our creator!
The beginning of our life starts with the grace of the Almighty, and it will end with returning to Him. We came into the world with a pure soul, and how pure we are returning to the Almighty at our last hour is the test of our life, where spirituality is our strongest helpline.
Spirituality is the knowledge of the source of the spirit, the sincere pursuit of the Almighty, persistent connection with Him, and commitment to loving Him and remaining on His path until The Day (Hereafter) we meet Him.
Spirituality & Test and Trials of Life :
The Almighty created us with a purpose. Have we ever taken time to reflect on the purpose of our life?
We are always busy with ourselves: our goals, priority, need, endless demand, better lifestyle, and whatnot. It’s like we are running from the first day at school to the last day of life. Such worldly-centric life ends by running after material achievements without gaining anything for eternal life hereafter, for the ultimate Day of Judgment.
Do we think does Almighty create us for this race rat life?
Absolutely not.
Life is an exam for us, and how good we are in our intention, words, and actions define our ultimate success in this world and hereafter. We are tested with both bounties (wealth, offspring, and other affluence, etc.) and loss (fear, hunger, loss of wealth and lives, etc.) Keeping our souls pure throughout the entire journey of life is the key.
Mirages or traps of life like greed, fear, need, jealousy, or anything negative internally or externally may come into the way to make our souls filthy. A daily dose of spirituality is needed to clean our souls.
It’s the remembrance of the Almighty and our relationship with our creator. If we can keep this root strong, the tree of spirituality will grow and bear delicious fruits.
Two real-life stories on spiritual growth and development:
A tale of a spirituality-enriched soul:
Abdur Rahman, a middle-aged man, lives a simple life with his extended family, where he is the only earning member. He earns hand-to-mouth through cultivating rice and vegetables, yet he is content and happy with his life. The villagers wonder where Rahman gets the dose of positive energy even though he is in a financial crisis. He does two things daily that help him to bring a smile to his face in every situation:
1) Every morning, he starts his day with gratitude to the Almighty for his life and starts his day and,
2) every night before he sleeps, he forgives people who are wrongdoers to him, and he praises the Almighty for the beautiful life.
The Spiritual connection is the essence of his content life as his soul becomes enriched even though seemingly he was a poor man.
A story of a hungry Soul:
Sharlin, a successful corporate lady, has everything name, fame, money, family, and whatnot. Even after achieving so much, she feels empty inside, as if her soul is hungry. She is wandering for peace and tranquility.
If you carefully notice, you will find lots of Sharlin around you.
They have every reason to be happy in life, but they feel empty.
Why?
What’s the missing link?
Yes, Sharlin is not even aware of the need for her soul.
Our soul comes from the Almighty, and we will return to Him. So staying connected with the Almighty in any form is what our soul wants, like prayer, good deeds, charity, good behavior with people, and everything that feeds our soul.
The Link between religion and spirituality:
If we focus on the practicing religions of the world, we will find similarities in core beliefs. The essence of every religion is virtue and goodness. All religions focus on spiritual betterment; all religions suggest preparing for the day of judgment day. If a believer holds his belief devotedly, their heart will search for connecting with the higher spirit, the divine spirit- the one and only Almighty.
When we sincerely try to connect with the Almighty through our prayers or doing any good things to please Him, we feel peace and calmness.
When we don’t take care of our relationship of us with Almighty God, we gradually indulge in material gains only following our Nafs (the comprehensive word for all the evil attributes of a person), forgetting His will, forgetting our hereafter, and slowly getting into the quicksand /trap of evil. That time our soul gets impure and wicked, and this is our biggest loss of life.
This fight with our negative shades is a lifelong process until our last breath, and we can conquer this battle only with our pure souls.
Let spread the fragrance of your soul through cultivating spiritual development and growth.
