I had a teacher who once taught me that life is not a school where you learn lessons. It’s a message board where you can see messages. If you ignore the message, you will learn the lesson. I always kept that in mind. Everywhere I look in my life, I seek messages and messengers. Here is an unusual story about one such messenger.
I had just come back from the hospital after getting my second chemo treatment. As I walked into my building's lobby, a woman stood right in the middle of it texting. It’s a pretty big lobby, so I’m not sure why her presence in the middle of it annoyed me, but it really did.
There she stood in the lobby, texting for nearly 25 minutes. Surely anybody could easily walk around her. But why was she standing there right in the middle of the lobby? It annoyed me more and more. I was about to say something to her but I realized it would seem crazy. “Why are you standing here in the middle of the lobby texting?” “It’s none of your business” she’d likely say.
After a while, she went back into the building. I sat in the lobby waiting for my wife to come downstairs…
