The Stray Cat

It was a brisk autumn night as Mia made her way back home from work. Her boots rustled rigid golden leaves when she walked through the chilly darkness at night. When she reached the stairs to her apartment, tucked to one side near the steps, sat a tiny figure huddled and shivering.

It was a stray cat. The sorrow at seeing its fur all flattened, a body so innocent and small. Mia got close. She had a hard time believing. It had been just as vulnerable and it… those big eyes, looking at her fearfully no strength to flee.

Mia was one who had a heart of gold and always had an eye for the animals. It was so small and just no way could she have left it out there. She immediately pulled a muffler out of her bag and carefully rolled up the cat in it. Almost immediately, the cat became visibly calmer and slumped against a soft bed pad.

Mia cradled it and murmured sweetly. However, comfort was not enough for her. A soul like this needed food and a place to sleep.

When Mia arrived at the apartment she made herself dinner. She was vegan and had no animal products in her home. She mashed up some chickpeas with olive oil and boiled pumpkin to prepare a healthy vegan meal. She…
