I am skeptical of those who think of everything in healthcare as some type of conspiracy between insurance companies, the medical profession, and Pharmaceutical companies.

That doesn’t mean these relationships do not exist, to the detriment of patient healthcare. The key is that each patient must be an advocate for their well-being. You can’t just lay back and think it will all be okay. You need to see what’s being done, why it’s being done, who’s doing it, and how it affects you. This requires doing a lot of research and asking a lot of questions.

It is also naïve and even delusional to believe that decision-makers in insurance companies, hospitals, big pharmaceutical companies, and the healthcare system in general and as a whole, are not often dangerously secretive and sinister in ways designed to maximize profit in ways that often harm patients.
