Ultima Thule
A land beyond dreams
Hold the reins loosely
and gallop with the freshening wind
through slender wisps of dream and song
across an auburn plain
I ride a mount proud and strong
a horse by pinto paint and print
hooves kick up bits of dream
that sparkle twist and fade
Fate I’ve faced with taproot intensity
but troubles pursue on purple mounts
boiling thick as locust clouds
I feel the heat as bridges burn
the sleeping world has far to turn
Once I heard of a distant place
somewhere out there, somewhere far
a land of exquisite fire
rising up beyond the sea
Ultima Thule it’s called by name
Before we ever reach the end
we’ll go there, you and me
a place where troubles never show
the wind feels soft and moist and sweet
and time burns slow the candle flame
The sky will welcome us in blue
sunlight warmth with morning dew
a land without a waking care
hold the reins loosely
we’re almost there
Thanks for reading…
