Welcome To Our Brand-New DEP Photography Column
Announcing the first prompt for the DEP Photography column
Today I am excited to present the Dancing Elephants Press Photography column! As a shutterbug, I am excited to host and lead the Photography column here.
Photography, to me, personifies mindfulness at its best.
Photography grounds me in the present moment, literally focusing on what I am seeing, experiencing, and thinking about. In that moment when I aim my camera lens, be it my digital camera or phone camera, I am one with what I see. I absorb that moment, capturing it for eternity. In that photo, I lock precious memories I can return to look at whenever I want. My albums, therefore, are my happy place.
Welcome to the DEP Photography column with me!
In keeping with our publication’s name, our first prompt and theme for the month is:
Elephants
What do elephants symbolize?
Elephants represent positivity, prosperity, health and spiritual well-being, and happiness. They symbolize determination and strength. This huge but gentle creature is strong, nurturing, loyal, and protective of family.
In Indian and some other eastern cultures, elephants are worshiped and revered for their strength and intelligence. It is believed that an elephant statue in the house is auspicious.
🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘
Did you know
- elephants with their trunks facing upwards represent prosperity, good luck, and victory.
- elephants with their trunks facing downward represent longevity and conception.
- elephants with their trunks facing downwards and curling up represent everything listed in the first two. So you know which one to get!
Basically — any elephant in the room…er…I mean the house is good!
I clicked a selfie with the gigantic elephant soft toy when I visited IKEA after they opened in Bangalore. The moment I saw the pile of elephants, my first thought was — oh this would make a great pic for Dancing Elephants Press!
Now show me yours!
Inviting you all to participate enthusiastically!
The prompt is: 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘
Post a photo you clicked, that has an elephant — can be a live one, a statue outdoors, an illustration, a motif from a fabric, a painting, a soft toy, an item of décor, something shaped like an elephant — just about anything. Why — you can even draw one and post it.
