When I Set My Table

A Prayer

When I set my table,

I prepare myself to receive
God’s blessings;

I reaffirm my faith —
that God will provide what is necessary;

I give thanks
before the hand that feeds me;

I relinquish my agenda
and ask God to choose the time;

I humble myself —
that I am his servant.

When I set my table,

I place infinite settings,
to welcome all that God sends me to serve;

I ask him to help me
give all of my love;

I anticipate his work
with excitement and gratitude;

I remind myself,
that I am not him.
