Keeping Good Teachers Was Harder Than Expected
Some dance experience needed — preferably in Ballroom, Latin, or Swing dancing
As a dance studio owner, it made perfect business sense to have the space be used as much as possible. This meant attracting other teachers to rent space or teach classes. But finding and keeping good teachers became more of an issue than I could have imagined.
Teachers wanted
Having taught at many other venues myself, I had a following of students who continued taking classes at my new building, with some emerging as possible teachers or dance hosts.
Let me explain. A dance host is a dancer — girl or guy — who keeps guests at parties moving by offering to dance with them, sometimes having to show them a basic step or two to get them around the room.
Many of my older students fell into this category, as they had already taken lessons with me and knew the basics at least. They were more than willing to seek out people at parties to dance with and mention upcoming classes that were open to everyone.
Teachers were a little harder to come by. There were several who were interested but couldn’t cut it.
