NCAA men’s basketball is not the only tournament with a Cinderella team

Many college basketball fans love the month of March because of the parody. The cinderella team dancing their way into the hearts of so many is what makes college basketball around this time of the year so great.

What many people often overlook is that this parody occurs in the men’s hockey tournament as well.

Just earlier this evening, the number one seeded St. Cloud State took on the fourth seed, Air Force, and Air Force dominated their way to 4–1 a victory.

As if that was not the only excitement for the evening, fellow number one seed Notre Dame went to overtime against Michigan Tech. Notre Dame was leading 3–2 with just over one minute left and Michigan Tech scored the tying goal to force overtime. Notre Dame’s Jordan Gross scored the game winner on a shot from the point to advance and avoid the upset.

While people around the country watch the NCAA basketball tournament rooting for cinderella teams like Loyola-Chicago, hockey fans are watching their tournament closely, hoping the glass slipper fits the Air Force Falcons.
