NHL playoff picture

During the month of March, NHL teams have their last chance to get a spot in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

This year playoffs will begin on April 11th.

With the addition of the Las Vegas Golden Knights, there is more competiton this year. Expansion teams usually take a couple of years to have a succesful season but the Golden Knights are sitting at the top of the Pacific Division with 101 points.

With a solid chance of making it to the Stanley Cup finals, this would be a special year for the Golden Knights.

The Lightning, Predators, and Capitals are currently at the top of their divisions and its no surprise that they are there.

Some teams that ended up in the bottom include the New York Rangers who are usually in the playoffs and The Chicago Blackhawks. These teams are no stranger to the playoffs but were unable to keep up this year.

The Sabres and Islanders are stuck at the bottom of the standings but unfortunately for fans, this was not a surprise to anyone.

The Predators, Tampa Bay, and the Bruins have clinched playoff spots and teams have a couple of weeks to improve where they sit in the standings.

The Avalanche and the Ducks currently hold the two wild card spots but there is a chance for the Blues or the Stars to clinch a wild card spot.
