The Oregon women’s basketball team have a chance to make this team one that will be remembered forever.

This team was a 10 seed coming into the NCAA tournament. We all know that come tournament time, anything is possible. I don’t think Oregon saw this coming.

These women have upset #7 Temple and #2 Duke to reach the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history and had a showdown with #3 Maryland. Maryland averages an NCAA best 90.1 PPG. Well they took down the Terrapins today 77–63. Oregon has reached their first Elite 8 in program history. They got to give another “Winners Stay” celebration.

They can enjoy the moment, but it’s going to be do-or-die time for these Ducks. Their Elite 8 matchup? Oh just a team that hasn’t lost a game the last 110 times they stepped foot on a basketball court. The Huskies are next, but will Oregon make their team infamous?

The Ducks have been led mostly by true freshman Sabrina Ionescu. She leads the team in assist and is second in scoring and rebounding. Against Maryland, she scored 21 points to go along with 7 assists. They’re going to need a big game out of her and everyone else in order to defeat UConn and the streak.

An Oregon team in their first Elite 8 ever has a chance to slay Goliath. They can pull an upset most would never see coming, seeing as how it feels like UConn wouldn’t lose another game. UConn is incredibly talented and disciplined, but here’s the thing.

Oregon can shock the world.
