Lonzo Ball is a name you have heard all season. The kid lives up to his last name, he can ball.

Tonight, he has the most important game of the season as UCLA takes on Kentucky in the Sweet 16 matchup. Whether he wins or loses, he will still be a top 3 pick come draft night. Right now he’s projected to go #2 overall to the Los Angeles Lakers.

He has the ability to make a difference on any team that picks him with his ability to shoot the 3 and orchestrate an offense.

Boy oh boy, if Los Angeles decides to pass on Lonzo if he’s available, you know they’re gonna hear about it. That would sent Lavar Ball into a fit.

Lavar has been arguably the most outspoken parent on his children’s abilities. The Ball brothers are all talented, but Lavar has them on another planet with what he expects. You gotta give him credit, he knows how to draw attention.

There is a laundry list of things he has claimed. It ranges from him having the ability to beat MJ in 1-on-1 in their primes to Lonzo putting the Golden State Warriors in a better position if he was running point instead of 2-time MVP Steph Curry. Mind you, Lavar never played pro basketball. He’s expecting Lonzo to get a shoe deal once he hits the NBA. Not completely outrageous, except he expects the deal to be around 1 billion dollars. Not million. Billion.

Lavar recently had a heated discussion on First Take with Stephen A. Smith. If you tuned in, you really see that Lavar believes what he preaches.

It begs the question, is Lavar becoming too much of a personality and possibly harming his son?

I think no matter what happens, Lonzo should be able to hold his own in the NBA. However, his father taking shots and LeBron James and Curry almost puts a target on him to keep his father quiet. You gotta believe when they meet during Lonzo’s rookie season, these comments and actions won’t be forgotten. Some might feel bad for him, but you can’t say that LeBron James Jr. wouldn’t be as good as his father and expect it not to go unpunished in some way, shape, or form.

Tonight, fellow highly touted prospect, Malik Monk and Kentucky have their chance to put an end to UCLA. What can Ball do for UCLA? He could possibly lead them to an Elite 8 and beyond. Maybe if Lonzo goes down tonight, we won’t hear from Lavar until the draft. I’m guessing that’s wishful thinking.
