Why I Love Spring For More Than Baseball and Softball, It’s College Lacrosse Season

Every Spring as it warms up, NBA and NHL playoffs get underway, baseball starts and teams gain hope before a new season. COllege sports also get underway, with baseball and softball going to warmer places like Florida or South Carolina to play before the season starts. But the sport that has always made me excited to watch in the spring is Division 1 college lacrosse.

The constant thought of a single shot changing a game, or a single ground ball or even a save. The action of a full lacrosse season is fun to watch, seeing how teams can go on winning and losing streaks as they move towards the postseason. The action of every weekend makes me always want to tune in and watch even small schools like Harvard, or Bucknell or even Lehigh. The bigger schools like Maryland, Loyola, Duke, and even Denver and Ohio State are good at lacrosse.

I also love when conference tournaments get underway and the best of the best teams battle it out to vie for tournament spots, and you get to see some underdog teams like UMBC and even Townson get to the tournament and sometimes beat the best of the best. The NCAA tournament is a spectacle of itself where it all culminates into memorial day weekend and two great days of lacrosse.

So sit back, relax, restring your lacrosse sticks, and get ready for the fastest game on turf, where you never know who will win next.
