How did Danford Works come into your life?
I was referred by Sarah Cummings! She also had a hamstring injury and kept telling me how Jane and Danford Works is the only way she got back to training after her hamstring tear. It meant a lot to have someone who’s treated this type of injury before because it’s a tough one!
What is your favorite workout?
My favorite workout is probably either some type of ladder- Fartlek 1–2–3–4–3–2–1 or track ladder 200–300–400–1000–400–300–200 or a good tempo run. I love getting in the rhythm of a tempo and clocking off miles feeling smooth.
How do you fuel your workouts?
My fuel pre-run is typically toast with peanut butter or almond butter depending on my nut mood of the day, banana, and cinnamon. I always have coffee and a glass of Nuun immunity too. For post run, I’ve gotten into Vega greens+vanilla shakes which are great. If it’s lunch time or dinner, I’m a fan of rice bowls with some type of protein and spinach + whatever veggies I have in my fridge.
Where is your favorite place to run in NYC?
My favorite place to run in NYC is definitely Central Park and specifically the bridal path. I love seeing the sunrise or sunset while looking out on the reservoir and the city.
What is your go-to method to unwind?
My go to method to unwind is usually an evening of watching a movie or reading a good book, drinking Yogi tea, and good snacks. My typical recovery day consists of sleeping in (!), making sure I’m rolling out and using the Theragun, and then often making time for yoga or mindfulness. I love the Headspace app or Calm.
What are your fitness/wellness goals for 2022?
For 2022, one of my fitness/wellness goals is to see each run as an opportunity to move my body and enjoy something I love to do, outside of my schedule as a medical student. I hope to have more consistent weeks of pain-free running (which has been possible with Jane, Auren, and Danford Works!) and to continue to see improvement in my strength/PT work. Another goal is to get back on the starting line for a road race, healthy! I finally feel myself getting there with the help of Danford Works and feel that part of that goal is to keep trusting the process and not taking myself or an injury too seriously, but enjoying the ride along the way :)
