Know Your Lore — Legacy Airdrops (Part 4)
In the fourth part of the airdrops series, we will discuss the second and final airdrop of series 2, Cerso Lord of No Vig.
Cerso Lord of No Vig
No one will fault you if you thought Cerso Yeet’s time in Elden Ring ended after he finally defeated Malenia. Unfortunately for Cerso, that was not the case. He had more bosses to defeat after Malenia, including the game’s final challenge — an epic showdown against Radagon of the Golden Order. Radagon, while not as punishing as Malenia, proved to be a worthy opponent, and took Dan 362 attempts to defeat him:
Radagon had finally been defeated. What Dan didn’t realize was that a second boss directly followed the end of the fight:
Poor Dan. He hadn’t beaten Elden Ring after all. What he did was get to the game’s final boss, Elden Beast. As expected, Dan failed in his first attempt, and then came to terms with what awaited him:
What awaited him turned out to be 375 more attempts. Some where he got stomped by Radagon, some where he made it deep into Elden Beast’s health bar before failure, and dozens of attempts in between. Finally, on attempt 737, Dan finally defeated Elden Beast and beat Elden Ring:
As expected, an airdrop was created to commemorate Dan and Cerso’s triumph. Coming in at 2,298 examples of the card, it is currently the card with the second highest circulation. Unlike the rest of the airdrops, Dan tasked community artist hushroom with creating the card’s art. At the time of publication, this remained the only blue bordered airdrop card that wasn’t drawn by Dan himself.
In part five of the series, we’ll take a look at the fifth released airdrop, and the third airdrop from Elden Ring, which immortalized a very special set of hooves.
