In the seventh part of the airdrops series, we will discuss the third and final “legacy” airdrop of series 2.5, Pace Picante III DLC.

The full art variant of Pace Picante III DLC features a cartoon salt shaker with a smile on its face and salt flying out of its holes.

The blue border variant has art that shows the saltshaker from the eyes up, with just a hint of the salt flying from its head visible in the card frame.

Pace Picante III DLC

While Dan was toiling away in the Elden Ring mines, one of the benefits to finishing the playthrough was being able to play the long-awaited Cuphead DLC, The Delicious Last Course. Dan loved the base game and had been looking forward to the DLC for a long time, but it would have to wait until Cerso Yeet’s story was concluded.

We all know by now that Cerso eventually triumphed, but in typical Dan fashion, Dan decided to beat Cuphead again before allowing himself to play the DLC. Not only did he have to beat the game, but he had to beat every single level while earning an ‘S’ ranking. To earn an ‘S’ rank, the level had to be played on expert difficulty, beaten in under two minutes, with at least three hit points, three parries, and a full super meter. Here are the parameters from the horse’s mouth:

As you can imagine, this was no simple task, and many levels found Dan completing all objectives but one, requiring him to give it another try. The bosses that gave Dan the most trouble were those that required flying, such as the fight against Hilda. He spent over five hours on her before finally achievieving that elusive ‘S’ ranking:

Dan stumbled and bumbled his way through the game, taking many hours to defeat the game’s penultimate boss, King Dice. Although Dan failed to beat the game in under fifty hours, he wasn’t too far off, beating it in about 51 hours:

Once Dan got a hang of the DLC character Ms. Chalice’s dodge roll, he was able to mostly breeze through the new content, even though he continued to obtain ‘S’ rankings. He made quick work of most of the bosses but came plummeting back to Earth when he reached the DLC’s final boss, Saltbaker. This was one of the hardest bosses Dan had ever fought, but he was making progress. After a particularly close attempt, Chat informed him of something important:

As you can imagine, Saltbaker was even more difficult on expert difficulty, and Dan was back into the mines of suffercore. After 638 attempts, Dan finally beat Saltbaker and met all of the ‘S’ rank requirements while doing so. Unfortunately for Dan, the game said otherwise:

So now Dan had to beat the boss AGAIN. An already suffercore challenge had to be done twice. After the initial shock, Dan took the setback in stride and continued putting in attempt after attempt. Eventually, after 658 total attempts, Dan beat Saltbaker again, this time earning the coveted ‘S’ ranking:

It took him 71 hours, but Dan beat the entirety of both Cuphead and the DLC while earning an ‘S’ ranking on every level. This was a legendary accomplishment that was deserving of being immortalized in the form of an airdrop. A couple months after the event, Pace Picante III DLC was airdropped to its lucky recipients on November 14, 2022. Despite there being at least a dozen airdrops that Dan needed to provide the art for and airdrop to the community, Pace Picante III DLC turned out to be the last of the legacy airdrops. While airdrops continued in other forms, they were no longer tied to epic moments on the channel, their art was supplied by others, and the criteria for receiving them changed.

Thank you for following along. I hope you enjoyed the walk down memory lane as much as I did doing the research and writing about the airdrops. In the coming months, look out for more articles about the other airdrops that have been released.
