Cow is king

New Zealand is meant to be all about the sheep: fluffy balls of wool and tasty lamb dotting the utterly luscious countryside. Not so much. The cow is now king. Dairy is where the money is, and the farmers have followed accordingly. Herds of Holsteins and Jerseys are far more common than flocks of merinos or coopworths.

I might have to revise the fantasy of meeting the Kiwi sheep farmer of my dreams to a cattle farmer of my dreams. It doesn’t have the same ring to it, though, does it?
