ETHDenver Wrap-Up

DAOstack participated in ETHDenver Feb 16–18, offering workshops, panels, and a keynote by DAOstack architect Matan Field. The event was the largest Ethereum hackathon yet.

A few of my takeaways from ETHDenver:

  • The organizers did a great job laying a foundation of “how can I help” versus “what’s in it for me”, and lambo fever seemed nowhere to be found. They even introduced the buzzword #buidl, meaning make something useful, as in: “Don’t just hodl; buidl!”
One fund manager who is also a real estate developer noted that “You go to a real estate conference and everyone talks about making money. You come here, everyone talks about changing the world.”
  • The idea that blockchain tech has the capacity to help reshape our economy around win-win game dynamics is spreading. In the words of Game Changers founder Andrew Hewitt, who spoke on a panel called “Building the Next System” along with Nathan Schneider, Joe Lubin, and DAOstack’s Matan Field: “The very nature of blockchain’s decentralized design creates new possibilities for including stakeholders in ownership and governance, distributing profits widely, measuring impact transparently, and ensuring the common good is prioritized thanks to a token-enabled fundraising model that transcends the need for profit-driven venture capital.”
  • It was great to receive such positive feedback during the event about the need DAOstack is aiming to serve. The evolution to anti-rivalrous economics is upon us (and is arguably critical), and its primary rate limiter is the development of the tech to enable decentralized collaboration at scale. There are many use cases for DAOstack, with far reaching implications. I am excited.

New DAOstack Website

DAOstack has a revamped “2.0” website live at https://daostack.io. You’ll find all-new information about the project, as well as links to our whitepaper and social channels.

Also… the DAOstack Forum

We also launched a forum at forum.daostack.io to foster in-depth discussions about the DAOstack platform, as well as DAOs and decentralized governance in general. Contributors have already started brainstorming how to use DAOstack for integration into brick-and-mortar businesses and managing the reputation of actors with governance models.

Partnership with Sapien Network

Have you heard about DAOstack’s partnership with Sapien Network? Sapien wrote about it here.

DAOstack Pollinators Program Announced

DAOstack has formed a team of “pollinators” — blockchain and DAO enthusiasts who are helping to spread the word about DAOstack across social media and other channels. If you’re interested in joining this team, drop us a line.

Upcoming Events: ETHCC and TokenFest SF

We will be at ETHCC in Paris March 8–10, and at TokenFest SF March 15–16. Let us know if you’d like to meet, or drop by our booth.
