The ratio is important. Optimally, images should have a ratio of 1280 wide by 853 tall (pixels). But you can use a less tall image. If you do there will be some blank space between your image and text. You can also use a smaller image with the correct ratio (for example 640x426) but it might appear smaller on our pages and not so good for viewers.
