The most important community driven event in Latin America starts in Santiago, Chile today.
We are thrilled to be here and to show our excitement we have decided to give a gift to the blockchain community, which we’ll get to in a moment.
LaBITConf is a shining example of a passionate community building relentlessly from the ground up. The first LaBITConf took place in Buenos Aires in 2013, and from that moment NGO Bitcoin Argentina and Bitcoin Iberoamerica have been spreading the blockchain revolution through Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, and now Chile.
Those of us working in blockchain are building a new world that values self-empowerment and freedom, but as long as the infrastructure we use is dependent upon centralized services like AWS and Digital Ocean, our dreams of censorship resistance can be easily squashed by providers who don’t share our values. That’s why DAppNode exists! To give project communities the ability to easily run dapps and blockchains on their own servers, in a decentralized way.
DAppNode is an open source software layer that can be installed on any machine to create a decentralized layer. This allows anyone, person or project, to run their own nodes. Our aim is to create trust circles within communities, all persisting their favorite dapps on censorship resistant hardware. In this way, those who run DAppNodes add to the security, privacy, and decentralization of their network.
Now, about that gift
Today is the kickoff to LaBITConf 2018, and to celebrate we are releasing a one-click Bitcoin node install for DAppNode users. What that means is anyone who has DAppNode running, no matter what hardware they are using, can easily install their own Bitcoin node. No expertise needed! It’s as easy as downloading an app from your preferred app store, but it’s free to use. Once you have DAppNode installed, you’ll find the clickable package in the installer section of the admin UI.
This is another step in our roadmap to incentivizing the creation of a truly decentralized hardware layer, and there are many more to come. Simply install DAppNode on your hardware of choice, and you can have a full Bitcoin node running in moments.
