The last 3 weeks have been a whirlwind of travel, talks, demos and meetups. With the whole DAppNode team attending 2 conferences and 1 hackathon back to back to back. We’ve had the opportunity to share our work with the community, on-board DApps and get DAppNode into the hands of the developers. The overwhelming reception that we got from everyone has been keeping our spirits high !

The following are a few updates that we are really excited about:

  • SDK for developers was shown live for the first time in Web3Summit in Berlin. Big shout out to the folks at Aragon and EthPrize, who funded the development of this essential work, you can find our SDK here
  • Avado has arrived, the first of many hardware partnerships lead by our esteemed friend and advisor Bernd Lapp who has been working on the distribution and production side of DAppNode powered servers. You can sign up to get your hands on the first batch of physical DAppNodes at https://ava.do/
  • Görli testnet is live, deployed by our friends Afri Schoedon @5chdn and Aidan Hyman @chainsafeth. The easiest way to run this new testnet is through DAppNode because the node has been dockerized with three clients (Geth, Phantheon and Parity) then put in the DAppstore, so you can run them with a click. Görli aims to be the default testnet compatible with parity and geth while still being proof of authority!

Events Attended

Web3.0 Summit:

In Berlin we used the DecentralizeNOW hacker node to walk through the install process with a group of 15 developers, albeit with some technical difficulties,

We showed to the audience how to do a DAppnode installation in a brand new piece of hardware using the ISO from our repo. We really had a good time with the Giveth family in the Decentralize now space attending some cool panels and talks about topics as open block explorers, trust in hardware, building a zsnarks circuit or the importance of mesh networks, definitely the next big step to achieve real decentralization,

At Web3 Summit we also had the opportunity of holding a workshop about building decentralized websites using DAppNode, around 20 people were able to learn how to build an unstoppable website so the least we could do was gifting them with one of our t-shirts for demonstrating their true interest for real decentralization. If you are interested in building decentralized sites you can have a look at the materials we prepared for the workshop here.

Status Hackathon:

While at the status event we were able to set up a wireless dappnode hotspot allowing hackers to connect to the decentralized web, as well as show off our SDK that makes possible for developers to upload their package to IPFS, we took the example of the status mailserver and we could teach people to use some dev tools too allow them to have their own deployments in DAppNodes, you can see a guide of that teaching session here.

We shared the release of newest Status package with the team of developers who came to install their own DAppNode and showed them how they can host the full Status node from the privacy of their home server, Decentralized telecommunications FTW !

Swarm Mini Summit:

The SWARM team invited us to share this the newest implementation of a SWARM node into the DAppstore, Once Edu Antuña finished it he was welcomed on stage to give a 5 minute presentation that basically consisted of 90 seconds demo and 3.5 minutes to install a SWARM node with a couple of clicks, it was amazing to see the audience spontaneously clapping for us, not once but twice!!!

DevCon4:

At DevCon the Ethereum Foundation grants team invited us to Day-0 for a chance to chat with other grantees and show off our work. It was a great opportunity for us to connect with developers who truly need this solution to start decentralizing their own DApps and utilizing all the work we have done thus far !

It was our first time in going live with such a large audience at all 3 events and our overall feeling of the reception that DAppNode received was undeniably positive.

We really felt the love from the wider community for what we are doing at these events, seeing friends old and new wearing our merch proudly and stamping their laptops with our new stickers.

The unprecedented support we felt for DAppNode after the close of all these events has given us great hope for the future, the demos we gave from center stages in Berlin to basements at Ravec0n were all worth it. Most of all we want to thank YOU, our friends, our fans and all the amazing foundations who have banded together in support of this team and this project.
