Jan 2022 – Awesome Community Events, New Partners and Slick Videos!

Hello and happy 2022,

We’ve been working hard to make Dara even better at helping build social connection and capital, especially as Omicron rages on.

New Partner Highlight

Communities form the heart of Dara, and we’re excited to have Sandbox and the wider Jaaga Network join us!

Sandbox Collective is a fluid space for creativity, that undertakes a variety of curatorial and arts production projects, along with offering arts residencies.

Jaaga is a Community space located in downtown Bengaluru, that supports collaboration among creatives, entrepreneurs and enterprises, in order to face today’s big challenges.

We’d like to extend a warm welcome to both of our new Partners, on behalf of the Dara Network.

Growing Communities through Events

We know that connection happens in real-time (even if we can’t meet up as often as we’d like to IRL) so we’ve worked hard to make Events in Dara better than ever.

1. We’ve got a tasty treat for those of you who are affiliated to a Dara Partner Org, and would like to see your audiences grow. Now when someone RSVPs to an Event by your Organisation, they can be invited to join your ‘Friends Of’ institutions page. You can also ask questions of your choice when they RSVP. Here’s a short How-To guide. If you’d like to know more about Events on Dara, have a look at our two-part series, starting here.
2. List your upcoming Events directly on your Community’s Dara page. Yep. Now, every Event will show up not just on the Events board, but also on your Community’s page. And here’s the best part: the Event page looks really pretty and is ready to be shared publicly!
3. Every Event gets its own URL that you can share as you desire.

Bonus — the Event links to your Community page, so you can grow your audience.

Sharing Profiles, and Smoother Community Onboarding

You can now share your Profile and Community URL — with all the incredible people, Events and Projects therein!

Come check out The Dara Noise Community, for noise musicians and experimental sound artists.

1. Go ahead and share your Community at https://dara.network/community-handle. When people press “Join”, they’ll see your Welcome Video and Text.
2. Have your friends message you at https://dara.network/your-handle. They’ll be able to see your Dara Profile as a web page, along with the Communities you’re a part of, and the Projects you’ve participated in.

We’ve also got an all-new video recording interface that we’ve designed to eliminate those pesky misclicks.

What’s Next?

1. Dara will be at India Art Fair, which is returning to New Delhi from 28th April — 1st May, 2022!
2. We’re hard at work to improve the tools Community Admins have access to on Dara. Soon, you’ll be able to edit your Communities yourself, instead of having to ping us.
