5. ABILITIES : What’s next ?

The idea of a platform, where people can directly connect with each other and with companies, specializing into the emerging data science field, and discover new job opportunities, is the core of our challenge. Our mission seems to be the empowering of people with autism disorders, who demonstrate high levels of intelligence and abilities in data analysis and software testing to have equal job opportunities, as well as the democratization of the access to big data.

Now that our project is becoming concrete, we are planning to do several action to make it realer and mainly to make people hear about it.

Communication is a key point in a project as ours. We NEED to reach an audience to have an impact on people and especially to have an influence on society as we mentioned it. Thus, we are gonna launch a communication campaign to raise awareness in Athens, our first goal, but keeping in mind that our final goal would be to reach all Greece and even the world (let’s be ambitious!).

In order to prove autistic people intelligence regarding data science, we are planning do to 3 actions :

#1. VIDEO CAMPAIGN

We thought creating a video about our project would be a great idea to reach a bigger audience. Thus, we decided to make a video campaign, composed of various short videos, about different topics.

Ideally, we would do a first video explaining what our project is about. In this video, we will explain our main goals, why this project is important for us and why everyone should take an interest in it, and clearly the main purpose of it which is our application. In a second video, we would put testimonies of specialists talking about the autistic people’s capacities and abilities. We would here appeal Specialisterne, showing that this company is employing people with autism disorder and that it is a real advantage. This could make people understand and believe in autistic people’s skills. Finally, in a third video, we will present the people with autism disorder and their special skills regarding data science. We may include their testimonies about their experiences and feelings, so that people understand their life and point of view.

#2. PROMOTING THE VIDEO

To promote the videos, we will of course use the social medias. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube will be at the core of our communication. We will upload it on the platforms and try to make it see by the bigger audience. Social medias are the best way to reach a large audience, and to be heard. In a second time, we will go directly to companies specialized in the field we are targeting — data analysis — and come up to them with the video for them to discover our project. We will try to find as many companies as we can in Athens and close areas. Thereby, we will directly reach companies, the main actors that can MAKE A CHANGE. The aime is to make them aware of the autistic people intelligence regarding data science. That may make them offer jobs or internship, which would be a great achievement.

#3. EVENT

We want to organize an event to show our support to the autistic people, but also to launch our application. On this occasion, we would like to invite targeted companies to come, as well as autistic people. It would be a great opportunity for them to meet, and to see what they are their skills for real. This would be for us a chance to show the world our application. We will present it and explain how it works. Everyone will be invited to join the application on the spot, making the Abilities community bigger and bigger. And of course, everyone would be invited to join this event to show their support.

Our final goal is about changing the corporate values of the 21st century and create a society without prejudice, discrimination, a society where everyone gets a chance to prove what he’s worth. And with all of the promoting actions, we aimed to make a change.
