This task is where everything changed. During this task is when our positions shifted from mere students to active producers and founders of our project ‘Employment Kit’. The question is: how did we get here?

Well the answer is simple: brainstorming. We talked and talked, we threw ideas to the table only to throw them out the next minute. We asked ourselves what we would like to see, we strived to find a viable solution. Someone mentioned a podcast and ‘In The Works’ was born.

Inspired by our personal experiences and concerns, we decided to pursue an initiative that aims to create a sensibility regarding work and contributes to the fight against youth unemployment in Europe.

With a target audience of European Youth between the ages of 18 to 26, we decided to create a blog which will serve as our base for information and news. Our key tool would be our podcasts “In The Works” with talks from people from all backgrounds, regarding their experience in the work field. Our speakers would be chosen based on the stories they have to tell in order to inspire and inform our audience. Our podcasts or blog posts will also provide tips and advice from employers regarding how to get, maintain and be successful in a job.

We wished for our project to encourage young people and students to learn first-hand about the reality of the job market. Our aim is to help our audience prepare for the expectations of the workplace, while informing them about their rights and how to claim them. Moreover, we wish to reduce misinformation or even lack of information among youth, making them more able and ready to create their own professional path.

Of course, the task came with its own challenges. As first time pitchers, we were excited as much as we were nervous to show our new idea to a wider audience. That audience contained not only our fellow Dare To Challenge Students and our Professor Mrs Betty Tsakarestou, but also Mr. Caplan, who we had the honour to present our initiative to. It was difficult for us not only to begin implementing our idea, by finding podcast platforms that fit our standards as well as possible people to interview, but also to contain all the information we wanted in a limited amount of time.

However, the result was the very first step to bringing ‘Employment Kit’ to life. And so, we learned to trust the process.
