Following our idea for the #lovingvibes event, we created our persona, Carla, who would potentially attend. The interview with Errikos Ovadias of Impact Hub Athens helped us with this process, as he provided us with interesting insights in regards to the people behind social innovation.

For our persona, we chose to make her a young female that has yet to find the courage to voice her beliefs. We were inspired by what Errikos told us about the entrepreneurship workshops of Impact Hub that aid to empower women immigrants and refugees. As for her profession, we made her a social media manager, as we believe that social innovation starts from there, especially during the difficult times of the pandemic.

Carla’s story begins with the events of terrorism, police brutality, and pandemic. She feels devastated and even cut off from the rest of the world and wishes to help improve the world’s situation in any way she can. Making new friends along the way is also a desired outcome.

In the first phase of Carla’s journey, she notices an announcement of an online event while working. The event is called “#Lovingvibes” and aims to spread positivity. In the second phase, while being on a day off, Carla receives a notification from Impact Hub on Instagram. Coincidentally, they posted information and details about the #lovingvibes event, so Carla had the chance to learn more about it. In the third phase, she decides to attend. The excitement in the atmosphere and people rub off on her and she ends up making a lot of online friends that share the same passion for positive change as her. In the last phase, Carla now frequently takes part in events and programs that have to do with world peace and positivity, with her friends or alone.

Carla’s story ends with her personal growth and determination to put herself outside of her comfort zone. She proves Errikos’s point that anyone can help stir social innovation. They simply need determination, will, and a little push by others or even themselves.
