We dedicated and designed our project to help women, especially women who suffer from domestic violence, children and family and the friends of the victims, and of course possible victims too. It is important to educate people about that invisible outrage that happens at the home of 1 out of 4 women in Greece. This violence is unsighted, silent and most of the time it does not get publicity — this is why we have to speak about it, and this is why we have to help women who suffer from it.

Our support team (and our audience) consist of experts (like psychologists, lawyers, doctors, policemen), self-defense trainers, volunteers, NGOs, and volunteers of these associations. We would like to educate women, directors of schools and workplaces, anti-feminists, violent men or perpetrators, and people from different cultures.

In order to do our job effectively, we need to do surveys: we are going to make interviews with victims of domestic violence as well as our partners (NGOs, volunteers) and our expert team (psychologists, lawyers, doctors, policemen, etc.).

Our interviews are going to focus on women of all ages, ethnicities, classes, social positions because we need to hear the voice of all women. Our team is made up of women, so we can interview the victims of domestic violence with condolences and appropriate attention. If women are not comfortable with talking about this, they can be interviewed with a company of professional experts. We are flexible with the interviews and we can implement specific solutions.

Interview Guide

We prepared several specifical questions for the victims, NGOs, volunteers, and experts in order to examine the circumstances of domestic violence.

When we make interviews with victims, we will start with general questions to release the tension. First, we will ask them to tell us a little about herself, like her life’s circumstances, her age, and her profession, and where she lives now, and we would like to ask questions about her education, like did she go to school. After that, we will gently turn to deeper questions about the circumstances of the violence. We are going to ask about the exact time when the problems started with their family member or husband, and how long has it continued, and looking back at her situation, what advice would she give to another woman who has just started to have these sorts of problems with her husband?

So that we can examine the problem from as many sides as possible and so that we could help more effectively, we have to make interviews with NGOs, volunteers, and experts. Just like with victims, we will start with general questions: we are going to ask them to tell us more about their job or involvement in solving the issue of domestic violence, and the role and the actions of the interviewee. Henceforward, we have to know what can help most women who suffer from domestic violence according to the interviewee, and what is his or her exact role in relation to women who suffer from domestic violence. We need to know the exact time when she or he started to help women in particular and what type of tool have she or he put in place to help victims.

We should ask them what they think can help women who suffer from domestic violence the most, and what can a person do to help herself when faced with this kind of violence. We need to ask the advice they give friends and family to deal with the problem well, and we are going to ask the procedure of supporting the children of victims and if there is an unusual protocol when victims ask for help.

Unfortunately, there is a pandemic around the world that actually promotes abuse. Due to the coronavirus, new and harder issues began so we have to ask the experts if they did put new things in place and if they do organize their events online. We need to get to that according to what could be improved on the websites dedicated to violence against women. We can ask about the typical day for someone who works at his or her organization, and what they think the government should do to help the cause. If there is anything else they want to add, we have to give it a possibility.
