Have you ever thought about changing the world? Or how the world would be if hunger, violence, inequalities did not exist or -at least- if they were eliminated? Did you instantly forget about it because you thought it was nonsense?

After a whole semester Project W’s social pitch was all about that; how we perceive world peace as well as our plan on how we can achieve it in a gradual yet realistic way.

Let me briefly explain to you how this pitch was structured.

First things first we introduced ourselves as a group of 6 who are passionate about social innovation and change, highlighting that our intention is to minimize the problem starting from now.

What is the problem though?

Poverty, climate change, inequality, violence — and the list goes on and on. Before we deep dive into it, let me clarify to you how we got together as a team. At first, each one of us chose an issue that we are highly passionate about, but it did not take long to realize that all of our issues conclude in World Peace (gender equality, racism, poverty, access to education).

It seems chaotic until you break it down into smaller parts.

And that is exactly what we did.

After we identified how our work relates to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations we presented our actions.

No1. TEDtalk simulation

In our TED talk video, our team’s representative speaker Elena, talks about the importance of world peace to humanity, the individual responsibility each one of us has in the act of protecting it and the vital use of social media to stir social innovation through manifesting movements that help societies become a better place to live in.

After a constructive talk our highlighting points were

1. Lead with love, remain open and act with kindness

2. Stay informed in the correct way (#stayinformednotinfluenced)

3. Be good on the outside and take action

You can find our TEDtalk on YouTube as well as linked to our website.

No2. Podcast

Talk for Thought is a Greek podcast where we discuss various social and sometimes controversial issues. In this episode Ioulia and I, welcome the listeners and soon after, cover the subject of women’s clothes. What does the way a woman dresses mean? How does each sex interpret it? How much emphasis should we put on it?

No3. Interviews

Our first interviewee was Errikos Ovadias, member of the team of Impact Hub Athens.

A snap of our interview.

Impact Hub Athens is part of an International Network of social driven professionals and a variety of high impact creative professionals that are dedicated into prototyping the future of business. Errikos, beautifully explained to us how each one of us can make a step forward by noticing, learning, joining, deciding, and, ultimately contributing.
You can see the whole interview here.

Our second interviewee was Michalis Christodoulakis, an electrical engineer who participated at the GreenTech challenge by ESU NTUA.
He answered our questions in regards to circular economy, its association with sustainable development and also its connection to World Peace.

Νο4. Digital Presence

We created our website where the audience could collectively find more about who we are as well as our job. Our website has been designed in a way that the user can easily navigate and find more about he/she is concerned about. Minimalism is our A-Z.

As far as social media are concerned, we started with Instagram and we are concentrating to it since this is where our target audience is.
The key for us is to keep it as much interactive as possible while, at the same time, inform our community and invite them to participate in our actions.

Our closing slide was an actual representation of the journey (from inaction to participation and sharing) of someone who is highly interested in social issues but does not know where to start from.

We dare you to join the journey!
