RefVoice tries to brainstorm you.

Have you ever wondered what refugees have to say? Is it a normal thing for people who suffer like them to seal all types of expression? Have they lost every right to be artistic in any way just because they kicked them out of their own homeland? These and many more were the questions that came to our minds and that is why RefVoice was created!

What is RefVoice? “RefVoice is an orchestrated effort, not only to help refugees but also acknowledge them as fellow humans”. A website where their stories and artwork will be uploaded. A place to host future refugee photo reporters and artists. A place where they can be free! You can learn more about RefVoice by clicking the link down below.

The purpose of this article though, to be on point, is to let everybody know how we brainstormed our own selves in order to find solutions, our keyword proposition, our purpose as RefVoice. This process is very clear through our brainstorming sheet!

1st step: The very first ideas that came to us were a lot and maybe they were more general ones. Either way, we wrote them all down because that was the only way to know everything that was coming through our minds and then organize them.

Ideas: Artistic expression from different cultures. Sare a message of optimism. A newspaper for refugees. Refugees to set new goals. Refugees to become independent. Spiritual cultivation of refugees. Refugees to become more independent. An artistic expression outlet for refugees. Improve the quality of their life. Help them learn new skills. Find a way to escape their problems or face them. Find something worth trying.

Are you feeling brainwashed yet?

We did! But through the process, we reached our challenge topic (Step 2) which is that refugees have sealed all types of expression. That’s what we basically want to solve.

Step 3: According to Open Ideo after the process mentioned above we had to use colorful voting dots or markers to distill down to just a few favorite ideas. Break into teams and fill out worksheets to dive deeper.

Our favorite ideas.

Step 4: According to open ideo we had to talk about the obstacles we faced as a team during this quick process. Instead, we chose to write down the obstacles (and their potential solution) that RefVoice has in general because it was something we had not done until then.

Last but not least we answered 4 very important questions. What is exciting about your idea?

· Apart from the fact that we use art as a cultural bridge between refugees and locals, we do not only work for the refugees, but we actually work with them.

What is your idea in one sentence?

· We believe that integration comes through culture, so RefVoice will enhance the refugees to raise their voices and the locals to understand them.

What is the need we are solving?

· The need we are solving is social integration. Usually, people are afraid of what they don’t know and through the message communicated by the common language of photography, refugees can gradually create a public profile that leads to public acceptance. This way they will find a place in Greek society.

Who will benefit from this project?

· Both refugees and the locals.
