Taking action, making impact
Many days of hard work passed trying to simultaneously achieve our goals. Working on our website and trying to reach our target groups was definetely not the easiest task. While Giorgos Zervos was working on Trident’s website the rest of the team tried to contact the ministry of education in order to gain permission to access a public classroom. We didn’t receive an answer at once. It actually took the ministry about a month to inform us that we could not actually gain the access we wanted since we were not a legal organization and our action could not be justified as educational. We didn’t stop there though.
We were really pleased to see our website taking form and we believe that it a platform that will connect users and stories will be shared and people will be educated!
Moreover, we might not be able to achieve our ideal goal, which is to change the schools’ curriculum, but we adapted! We could easily just give up, but we dared to challenge ourselves and the community, so we had to carry on! We contacted students and their teachers to arrange after-school meetings. We made five presentations in total, making a small step at a time. The unfortunate fact is that we were not always allowed to take footage of it but of course, like always we did our best!
At the end of the day, we knew we could not achieve instantly our greater aim, but we had 5 classes of students eagerly waiting to learn, asking questions and wanting to get involved. So, this is what we are about to do.
In our future plans, we want to schedule actions like a coast cleaning or something similar. We also consider the idea of contacting local fishermen that could provide young students some of their insight knowledge.
We also built an instagram profile in order to better promote our work and our actions!

The ideas are plenty and the community wants to take action. Starting local is our strength, spreading the word is our mission!
