We are so lucky to be students of the Communication, Media and Culture department, a field of studies that not only includes general abstract theories, but it also allows us to be an actual part of the reality and the challenges that are present. The “Dare to Challenge” lab as for us an opportunity to feel, “touch” and take action about issues that affect each and every person in this world.

Have you ever considered why?
Why are there so many social challenges that the world must face?
Why isn’t there a radical solution?

The 5 whys game was the best tool to unlock a large group of students and share their own worries, fears and challenges. It was the best way to unlock us, to think about the bigger picture and to specify our most hidden worries. More specifically, it is a problem-solving technique that helps us to explore the relationship between the causes and the effects of an issue, more creatively and interactively.

Each one of us had a different issue to address between a great number of challenges. Angeliki Valeri, cared about equality in education, Despoina Fragou about gender equality, Konstantina Papanikolaou about LGBTQ+ rights, while Angeliki Kyriazi and I about fair opportunities for people who work in art and decent work conditions in general. Everyone also asked a friend about his worries and so forth. The outcome of this technique showed the variety of issues that the world confronts and the importance of young people to take measures, act and find innovative solutions.

“Dare to Challenge” Lab gave us the opportunity, starting with the 5whys task, to explore not only the effects but also the causes of an issue, to learn more about SDGs, to find out our biggest worries and to discover the most innovative way to be different and act for the world in which all of us live.
