Nowadays, many young people want to make their dreams about a better society come true. They give up the beliefs that the Stage has only the force to change the world and they create their own start-ups with a view to solving the everyday problems.

Following the above mentality, as part of the “Social Issues and Corporate Responsibility” course from the Media, Communication and Culture Department at Panteion University, Mrs Betty Tsakarestou assigned us to create our own project which aims to solve an important social problem.

She informed us that if we want to create a successful start-up which is characterized by sustainability and brand loyalty, we have to follow some specific steps.

In more detail, she recommended that all students had to be advised of the Resources of OpenIDEO.

So, let’s discover together our trip in the OpenIDEO world!

1st Step: Building your team

As an African Proverb says

“ If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

So , six girls decided to collaborate their ideas, their dreams and their smiles so as to become a team.

The members of our team are Eirini Nikolaou, Athina Gkouziadi, Polyxeni Klini, Fwteinh Stamogiorgou, Ioulia-Zoi Kyriakoulakou,Ergisa Zekio !

Join us and don’t forget that

Together

Everyone

2nd Step: Engaging Offline

OpenIDEO has Meetups all over the world. Groups connect for brainstorming, prototyping and creative problem solving. Unforunately, we couldn’t take part in a Meetup but Mrs Betty Tsakarestou decided to transform our lab #Daretochallenge to a continuous Meetup. So, all students help all students as far as their project is concerned.

3rd Step: Learning By Doing

According to OpenIDEO Resources , the Universities are incorporating design thinking into curricula and leveraging challenges for learning.

As you have already guessed, our professor contributes to the above fact.

As Manfred Eigen once said

In theory , there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

4th Step:Gathering Insights

In this stage, we researched in Indiegogo platform and OpenIdeo platform for projects which has already run . Furthermore, Mrs Betty Tsakarestou gives us the opportunity to keep in touch with the creator of Indigo and learn about his project and his future plans so as to promote the Indigo .

5th Step: Brainstorming

In 15 minutes, we have to think, take a selfie and share it on Facebook our own challenge. As you can see to the below picture, different people have different challenges but each of us aims to solve a social problem .

Our challenges

After this activity, it’s time to find the challenge of our team and visualize it!

The brainstorming time

And the oscar goes to…

A Project against stress and depression! We create the SHOUT project and we want to persuade people to be themselves and SHOUT against stress.

The first idea is to ask you to make a video in which you shout out loud and then you share it on the Internet both using the hashtag #shoutprojectgr and #daretoshare and mentioning our fb, twitter or instagram accounts.

Our second idea was the SHOUT booth. We will put our booth at Syntagma Square and people who are stressed they can step into and SHOUT ! Shouting in a booth is a better action than shouting to other people.

The third one is an application in which the user could shout and automatically a message will appear on their screen, such as congratulations, you beat the stress!

6th Step: User Experience Map

“ Understanding your user’s journey is key to human-centered problem solving ”

So, we use the USER EXPERIENCE MAP by OpenIDEO and visualize the experience that a user might have with your idea over time.

User Experience MAP for the SHOUT Project

In the above image, you can see Helen and her story taking part in the SHOUT Project.

Name: Helen

Age: 37 years old

Profession: Bank employee

Key characteristics: mother of three children , divorced , stressed

7th Step: Refining Your Thinking

In this stage , we should be in the shoes of the future SHOUT Project users and detect the possible falses in the SHOUT Project route.

8th Step: Storytelling

Our story against stress begins…
