In this assignment we started off by addressing our main social issue we’re focusing on as a team : Racism. We analyze what racism is : “Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or group of people based on their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized”.

Then we focused on one of the United Nation’s goal : Reducing Inequality. Empowering and promoting the social, economical and political inclusion of all people besides their sex, their religion, their race, their origin or economic status. Also, adopting policies in order to achieve equality progressively.

Another major goal of United nations is to achieve gender equality and to eliminate all forms of violence against women. They also aim to ensure women’s participation and equal opportunities at all levels of political, economical and public life.

Overall the “Nations United” video focuses in a variety of social issues and also gives solutions for them. The main issues disguise are : Climate and the planet, Poverty and inequality, Justice and human rights and Gender equality. We chose to further explore “Justice and human rights” and “Gender equality”, as the area we generally try to analyze is Racism in all its forms.

When it comes to Justice and Human rights we paid homage to George Floyd, one of the many victims of police violence in the US. In a world full of injustice because of race, sex, religion and other differences, it’s up to us to honor these peoples deaths and never forget how deep discrimination go.

Lastly and when it came to the goal of Gender Equality we wanted to adress that : “In a world filled with superficial equality, women still struggle for the same rights as men, many of which are critical. Discrimination on the basis of sex deprive women of same opportunities as men and their right to decide about their lives and bodies. In everyday life they face mental and sexual abuse and their excluded from many aspects of social life.”
